BLOOMFIELD Preschool and Childcare Center
Celebrating Over
62 Years of Excellence!
Our purpose is to provide a supportive atmosphere where young children explore the wonders of life, love, and the world around them. They learn about themselves, how to make friends, and prepare for life-long learning.
A long-standing pillar in the community, The Bloomfield Congregational Church has always been one of acceptance and love. As history shows, from assisting members of the underground railroad to being a spiritual gathering place for the agricultural community and then to homeowners who took up residence in the new housing developments of the 1950s, the church has been a forerunner in welcoming all.
Programs
Infant Program
Our classroom day reflects a balance of on-demand care and developmentally appropriate activities to support your infant’s development. The children’s care schedules are maintained and documented. In between care of their basic needs, the children participate in floor time, tummy time, cause & effect activities, visual and auditory stimulation and walks in the stroller. The constant love and affection that is shown to the child supports a strong sense of trust and confidence in our littlest friends.
Toddler Program
Toddlers are very adventurous, curious and often fearless. At this stage, the child will begin to develop social skills that will help them to form their first friendships. We encourage our children in these areas by participating in fun group activities like singing, story time and cooperative play activities. We support their emerging language by using age-appropriate phrases and by encouraging the children’s use of the new words they are learning every day.
Pre-K3 Program
We are hard at work (and play), with language development, early literacy, dramatic play, pre-math and pre-science activities. We also work on social skills and outdoor and indoor gross motor skills. We promote letter and number recognition, and children have opportunities for writing and dictation daily. Children take responsibility for our classroom by participating in classroom jobs and clean-up. They learn important self-help skills each day, like hand-washing, putting shoes and jackets on, and helping with snack/lunchtime setup. Meal times are family style, allowing discussion and promoting both expressive and receptive language and vocabulary.
Pre-K4 Program
Our days are very busy as we engage in many activities. Pre-literacy exercises with journaling, picture/story dictation, fine motor skill development and practice, word recognition, reading, and language exposure. We play word games and participate in large group discussions, including reporting on the weather, weekend news, and show & tell. We work on matching and memory skills. There is also the opportunity for small group and one-to-one letter/number practice. We participate in science activities, including observation, experiments, and documentation; math-based work such as number recognition, matching, counting, graphing, and separating and introduce simple addition and subtraction methods.
Enrichment Programs
Spending Time with the Library
Our preschoolers LOVE the library so much that the library sometimes comes to school! Once a month, Ms. Mora from the library comes to school to do activities that include: Storytime, crafts, and songs.
Our classrooms also rotate, getting to go to the library up the street with their teachers for storytime and activities!
Cooking with "DAGOODCHEF" (Chef Ricardo)
While cooking with Chef Ricardo, children learn how to measure, mix, follow directions, and enjoy the final product! Studies show that children who help with preparation are more willing to try new foods. Not only do they have fun with Chef Riccardo, they experience the process of making delicious food and are proud of their culinary talents!
Jump Bunch
Preschoolers need lots of physical activity. JumpBunch provides great exercise, in a structured format that introduces a wide variety of sports, builds coordination, balance, and confidence. It’s amazing how this early exposure makes kids more willing to give new sports a try as they get older. (JumpBunch.com)
